St Georges House

On the 24th of February we took a group of 26 young people to St Georges House, Croyde for the weekend.

The theme was light and dark; we spent the weekend listening to God through a range of creative and outdoor activities and building on some of the things we learned at Lee Abbey.

As part of the weekend we spent half a day doing an outdoor activity like surfing, mountain biking, archery or building crate towers. We also went on a night walk and spent some time sitting on the beach listening to God.

One of the activities was a worship and psalm writing workshop, the following psalm was written by Jill:

Lord, my heart before you is willing and I long to hear you.
Sometimes in the everydayness of my life I am deaf and lose my way, the ever-increasing sounds of this modern world hiding your voice from me.

Help me to hear you in the unlooked for places
and in the voices of those around me,
in the certain knowledge you have used and will continue to use the most unlikeliest of people to bring your word.

Jill wasn't the only one to get creative, here's Peters reflection on light and dark, this was inspired by the contrast between walking in the dark and the light and a brilliant piece of writing by Sam
.
