On Sunday 8th May at Square Corner, Uffculme, Youth Alpha was launched. The numbers vary each week, but 34 young people have been involved during the course. Each session involves a café, some games, a teaching time, someone sharing their story and a chance to debate and discuss in small groups. Topics covered include Who is Jesus? Why and How do I pray? How does God guide us?What about the Bible? Does God heal today?

The Holy Spirit weekend was a great event and 15 young people spent the night under canvas along with Vicki, Selina and Richard, exploring ‘listening to God’ through his amazing creation. This was a partnership with Wildside Education - an exciting new resource for all ages based in our deanery. We had a wonderful evening of worship and prayer at Dunkerswell Abbey, had an exciting night walk and enjoyed times of sitting in silence gazing at the wonder of God’s amazing creation. The Sunday coincided with Pentecost and the young people gathered at 9am for their first session. After the small groups, we joined together for the second teaching session and ministry time which was woven into the 11am service in Uffculme. Several members of Parish Praise in Willand came to help minister and lead in this service. We also welcomed families from Hemyock. The Holy Spirit met with us all in many different ways and it was great for the young people and their families to share a BBQ at the Vicarage before the final session – despite the torrential rain!!
