By Callum Taylor (Uffculme School)
Eight of us from Uffculme School aged 14/15 years old came together with a variety of ideas to make the week successful and after a long, hard couple of months preparing for exams, now was a chance to gain experience of life beyond school. We volunteered to be part of a social enterprise team working in the community and developing our skills in team building, project management, publicity and communications. We helped run the brilliant Kingwood Childcare graduation and pulled off a very successful Cake Sale at the Thursday coffee morning at Square Corner, raising around £120 for Parkinsons UK. As well as this a group of us took control of Year 4/5 for an hour at Uffculme Primary School where they had fun doing PE activities such as circuits and small sided ball games, completely arranged by us.
Many thanks to Rev Selina, Claire (the church youth worker) and everyone else involved with Square Corner, as well as the Primary school, Kingwood childcare and everyone who came and made a contribution to the cake sale as they all made our week worth while.
“I enjoyed doing the PE lesson with students from Uffculme Primary because it helped me develop my team skills and helped me learn how to control the students!” Ty White
