Back at the beginning of December, some Squarefishers went along to a ‘Wildside Advent Experience’! There aren’t many photos as it was mostly dark, but here’s what we got up to! We met in a field (!) and started by playing a couple of games to get to know everyone’s names – one of these included a large sword! We then took a lovely walk up to X church, where we each decorated a jam jar and made it into a beautiful candle holder, ready for our candlelit walk. Richard prayed for us, and we put on our ‘cloaks of silence’ as we left the church and began our night walk. We ‘numbered off ‘ to make sure no-one was missing, and headed out into the night. After a little while (and a quick wee-break!) we stopped and were each given a mat, ready for our still-sit in the dark. In our line, Richard walked us through the woods, and silently dropped us off one-by-one for some time to sit, think, reflect or pray in the peace and quiet. We were then picked up one-by-one, and set off to walk to the roaring campfire! There we chatted about how we had found the still-sit, and it was interesting to hear the different words each person used to describe how they’d felt. We then had some lovely mulled apple juice, s’mores, and used the ropes course to find our way back home!
