On the first weekend in March, 28 young people and leaders headed to St George’s House (Georgeham) for a weekend of fun, fellowship and exploring faith. Our theme was ‘Your Journey With God’, and we spent time during the weekend looking at Psalm 23 (“The Lord is my Shepherd…”), and how God guides us, provides for us and protects us on our journey with Him.
On Friday night, we went for a (mostly) silent night-walk, and spent some time stargazing (even though there weren’t many stars to be seen)! Saturday’s activities involved either; surfing, kayaking, or archery in the morning, some free time, and then time in the afternoon to bake cookies, do woodcraft or play music. In the evening we spent some time creatively exploring prayer using various prayer stations… some of them involved sand, shoes, and chocolate! We then had a wonderful time together worshipping God, had some hot chocolate and headed to bed. Sunday included a walk to the beach, a ‘still sit’, lots of fun and games, and some tidying up! We also took communion together and shared some of what we’d learnt or enjoyed over the weekend. Some young people even wrote their own version of Psalm 23!
We had a wonderful time, and God was really there with us. I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to each young person who came along and really got stuck in to the activities, and an even bigger ‘thank you’ to the team of leaders who worked so hard!
