6 Sept 2012
I’m 21, and although I’m originally from West Yorkshire, I’ve been living and studying at university in Bristol for three years. I did say, after moving to Bristol, that I’d never go any further south… but apparently God had different plans!
I became a Christian at 15 (ish) and since then God’s been cultivating a heart for youthwork in me (although it took me a while to realise this)! I’ve spent the last couple of years working with young people as part of Rock Challenge, a young people’s anti-drugs and –alcohol performing arts competition… something I’ve been involved with in one way or another since my school days. I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity to be part of the team leading TGiLates at my church in Bristol, a Friday night youth group seeking to be a safe place for young people in the community to spend time when they’ve nowhere else to go, and seeking to live Jesus out in front of those young people. God has been all over Lates, and it’s been such a blessing to be involved and watch it grow.
Now though, God’s lead me to Uffculme and I’m so looking forward to watching what He’s going to do here! I can’t wait to get started, and I’m really excited to be a part of St Mary’s and honoured to have the opportunity to get alongside the young people here and help them understand Jesus and everything He has for them!
